28.2.07 - Riyan knows the correct way to hold a writing tool. Loves to doodle each time he sees Nurul doing her homework.


Nurul picks up her writing skill fast. Just late last year, she refused to write much. But her improvement is tremendous. Thanks to my mum who teaches her and ensures she practices her alphabets after school.

Colouring, art and creative skills are not bad either. Major improvement too! Learns to draw a simple flower. Yeayyyy...!

But she still prefers sleeping to writing!

28.2.07 - At 14mths now, Riyan's words are slightly clearer than before, though not plenty vocab coming from him yet. He begins counting his fingers out loud to what-seems-to-sound like numbers.


Nurul on the other hand, picks up her latest exclamation: Gee Whiz!
She memorises spelling of words, on her own, and surprises us with her speech.

Mama(pointing to digi cam's features): This is for zooming, this is for display.
Nurul: Oh, so where shall i press?

I never expected her to know when to use the word 'shall'.

I Can Read

Nurul started her enrichment class in Jan '07. Teacher said she's smart and shows positive attitude in class. Got her in this class so she can mix with kids of other races and to build up her pronunciation and confidence. The fees are a little ex for us, who are just mere employees... but, we'll try to give her the best we can afford for now.

It's rather rare that we get to see Zachariah now that his parents bring him home on Fridays. So today was a great time to meet up with him after Nurul's KK appointment.

Nurul's first 'major' words based on flashing of cards:

Jacket : ~ja-ket 12mths
Watch : ~wotch 12 mths
Chair : ~chair 12 mths
Mushroom : ~ma-oom 12 mths
Memorised alphabets and numerals 1-10 : by 14 mths

Unlike Nurul, Riyan prefers to bite flash cards. Hmmm...
