Making a list and checking it twice

Yup, that should be Santa. But it's not. Sadly, it is me...

I simply could not resist the temptation of ensuring that all her books are already in order. I've done it countless times. Or is it my compulsive disorder? ;p
I'm more excited than Nurul about her going to a real 'full-time' school. Looked through her books over, and over, and over again. Making sure that all have been labeled, all stationery have been bought and fit her bag and pencil-case. I'm having the pre-school syndrome of a first-time P1 mother. Schools should have a de-stressing course for mothers like me...

Year end birthdays

On 7 November 2009...

A simple card they bought as a surprise gift for me. Riyan included his fav cars, and he specially told me that the red car shall be mine one day and the blue one, his.

The flowers they got me... they placed it on my bed to surprise me when i got back!

And on 29 December 2009, it was Riyan's. Mak made pulot (glutinous rice in English) with the usual sides for our close relatives. I added in rocher chocolates in Mak's old clear glasses and wrapped it in pre-made bags... very nice... like a wedding berkat (favours in English).
To end the day, we took a flight on the Singapore Flyer with Faris and Khairil.

Bye 2009, hello 2010..!!!

A good way to end the year with a completed project. Completed my Renal Unit project just earlier this week. It took me nine months to complete it... like being pregnant! And come 2010, a new headache begins... Angio and Cath Lab renovation. Angio is already in progress for almost 2 years and it's sill not completed. Come mid year it's be done followed by the star of Cath that would end in 2011.... AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

My 33rd year

7/11/09 - Thanks to my family - hub, kids, mak, Siti and Amir for ending myday with a smile. Only Allah knows what and how i felt in the morning of my birthday. And so the govt decided to lift my spirit by lighting up the stretch of Orchard Road on my birthday. Went to Far East for dinner. The kids loved the fried wanton with sweet sauce. Then we marched on to ION, Singapore's best kept 'open' secret. Pa wanted to get me a Burberry bag to replace my esprit but none fits the contents of my current 'wallet'. It's ok, Pa. I'll know it when i see it. Keep the cheque open, please... :)

ON guard...!

I've not been online blogging my entries for a while. I've got my own battle to fight.
And to those of you who turned down people seeking you for forgiveness, may Allah lead you to the right path.

I've given too much for nothing in return. I give up. Period.

Meet and greet sessions

ahhaha, I forgot I had these few shots in the PC... these were coincidental meet and greet sessions. One was when we had lunch at T3 because of Amirus' project in July or August 09, i think. We bumped into the Care Bears. They were so funny!!! Bumping against each other's tummy... the other planned meet-and-greet was at Downtown East for Tom and Jerry during the 3rd term break. This was not so much of a show like the one they had at East Point. This was just for phototaking sessions for those who had coupons.... we didn't have any so we sneaked a few shots... but my P&S camera died on me during that time. So used Pa's Omnia... ahahah

Bored face since no coupons...

They took part in the pre-event... dancing and games. Riyan was so cute doing all the moves. Nurul was like a pro! heheheh
Coincidentally bumped into Care Bears at T3 who were taking 'stroll' along the departure hall, going back into the backstage area. The show was at 6pm and we couldn't wait till then. Carparking at airport is expensive, ya know!

Riyan was scared shit... so it was only Nurul with the Care Bears.

Eidul Fitri 2009

I'll upload the raya photos when have captured enough photos. I didn't get to take much photos this year. Not really in the mood. And my kids and I, plus Rasyid, didn't get to take a nice family photo. Amirus took one shot of us but the angle and composure of the photo was not quite right. Got to edit and crop it. Next time, i should bring along my tripod!

We actually covered quote a fair number of houses this time round. Cos i think we had 2 days for the visiting (Sun and Mon PH). And this year was the first time i went to Cik Sal's and Cik Ishak's new house in Pasir Ris. It was gorgeous!!!! a terrace house that they bought at a damn cheap price and then transformed the entire house into a resort, including the toilets and open kitchen with home grown vegetable garden. And i love the bare concrete floor finishing at the living room. I couldn't get enough of the way the 2nd floor toilets have really high ceiling and no exposed lighting. It was damn bright, taking advantage of the available daylight that filtered through the attic-like windows. The concealed lights were hidden in the intermediate wall of both toilets.

I wanted to take photos of the house but i was shy ;p.. cos Cik Ishak is an award winning photographer... my DSLR would look so puny against his *ahem* professional camera.

I always get excited when i talk about this jewel in Pasir Ris. If only i have enough money, i'll buy a cheap private house, renovate it and then rent it out... or i can stay there and rent out our HDB flat! Food for thought but must join forces with my mom... hehehehehe

Wait up for our photos!!!

Teachers-parents meeting

hahahahahha i couldn't stop smiling when i heard comments the teachers made of Riyan yesterday.

"Riyan is showing his true colours now. Very different from what he was when he first joined last year." - This i found to be a good comment. Very positive. But... becoming too playful. Hmmm...

So we talked about his social circle...and... even the teachers noticed that he only liked to talk and mingle at his best with fair people! ahahhahaha Riyan, Riyan... i told them it's the same to his choice of food. Give him dark coloured gravy and he would not eat. His best friend are Tasnim and Helmi, both are extremely fair. *sigh*...

For Nurul, it was nothing but the best comments from her teachers. Except that she always wants to do Maths mentally and not through an entire working method.... her answers are correct though but it's not in line with the teacher's teaching method. Expressive in reading, good in English and... she made a huge progress in Malay!!!! Even her teacher was so surprised that she spoke one sentence in Malay! ahahhahah

You see, Nurul would usually speak and answer her teacher in Engligh even during Malay sessions. So when she spoke to her teacher in a full Malay sentence that day, her teacher felt like "awwwwwwww... she finally spoke in Malay!!!!! Macam tak boleh percaya gitu (Malay for it's hard to believe)"

ahahhahahah *pat Nurul's back* Good job sweetheart!

Riyan in ICR!

I put Riyan in I Can Read class since June 2009.

Alhamdulillah
, he is progressing well and loves the class. He was just promoted to the next level last 2 weeks. A new teacher, Teacher Vanisha. He will gleefully wave me goodbye when he reaches his class each week - and asks me to leave. ahahha but i'll peep through the little tear in the paper that is used to cover the vision panel to watch him in class.

He undersands all that his teacher instucts him to do. Whoa, very obedient! Very good!

Here, toothfairy

It's been a week since Nurul extracted her first loose tooth. It was shaky and we noticed that her new tooth was coming behind her shaky tooth. So Pa brought her to the dentist at Rivervale MAll - NTUC Dentistcare, with Riyan in tow.

I was worried as usually the tooth would fall off first then a new tooth emerges. Doc said this new generation is slightly different. Due to the high quality milk the kids consume nowadays, it's not uncommon that a new tooth would emerge first followed by the falling off the shaky tooth.

So kiasu Pa told the Doc to extract her tooth straightaway, afraid that she would play with the shaky tooth. She was excited, of course, to be on the dentist chair. When Doc moved the chair up and down she exclaimed: "Whoa! Like a bed!" Doc loves this kind of patients! The tooth extraction was easy-peasy. She was given some strawberry anaesthetic gel, which she found hot. But all in all it was ok and it cost Pa $45! ehhehehe

And all those while, Riyan was just standing at the side of Nurul watching her in awe. And nope, i heard he didn't want to try to sit on the chair although previous times he was so gung-ho (brave in Chinese) in wanting to go to the dentist. But he chickened out. ehhehehe

Thanks Pa!

Tunes in cresendo and pumping on sports

I've got big dreams for my kids. well, it may not seem big to others but if my kids could achieve it, i 'd consider it a great investment for me. The shoes would not be too big for them, trust me.

I'm hoping to put Nurul up for violin in a couple of months time. She expresses interest in it so i thought of getting her to give it a shot. She managed I Can Read pretty well. Thought of giving her a break from enrichment studies, since she'll be in P1 next year with real study load, and getting her to do something she would enjoy.

Called Sonare a couple of times to enquire. They'd take her in at the tender age of 7. hurhurhurhur... Thought of Yamaha but there is no branch in Sengkang.

As for Riyan, i'm thinking of rugby for him. I know he loves soccer but i hate it. Ya, ya... i know it's not supposed to be about me... but soccer?? YUCKS! i'd sponsor him for rugby anytime!

Off the rack i could only think of Centaurs but... i've got some reservations about this club. I'm gearing towards Rugbyfit. I think its credible. They are affiliated to MOE and SSC. I've e-mailed them on the fees and training ground. But truthfully, i'm actually smitten by the junior rugby boys i saw at the airport. The logo was a ram, i think. Can't remember the name! argh!!!! Hate it when the thing i'm thinking about is at the tip of my mind but i can't get it out!

Hence i'm not a teacher

Pa casually mentioned that there are LOTS of spelling mistakes in the blog. Darn! So now my fingers are itching to go through each and every blog to get them rectified. But too lazy.

Must. Fight. The. Itch!

And so, as spelling errors thou shalt stay. ;p

Jurong Bird Park

My weary feet.
Cooled off with icy cold peach tea and lemonade.
