Australia 2006

I realised that since we went digital, I'd a hard time getting family photos for my kids' school work required the next day. When Nurul was born i would religiously develop rolls after rolls of film. Now with the ease od the CD or external drive, i just save photos i took and chuck them in the dry box. ahhahahahaha so lazy to print photos nowadays. Anyway, I either recycled what my kids used for previous year's art or quickly rush to the DIY photo kiosk to develop my prints. Well, that was what i did for Nurul's Malay teacher's request. I'd been coming home late these past few days so by the time i knew of it, it was like 10pm! Stripped off an old family Raya photo from my favourite frame for that. Now the frame is just nothing but frame!

Found some old photos... both my kids love to look at the times when they were still toddlers... These were taken when we visited Mimah in Melbourne and were in Gold Coast before that. They looked so cute, the kids!

My favourite Malay Laksa!

Of course, cooked my my mother... i did try cooking this before but didn't tun out as well as hers... i love it with crunchy cucumbers.

Ingredients:

* shredded deboned fish
* fish curry powder
* oil
* smashed stalks of lemongrass
* onions (blendered)
* coconut milk
* some water
* chilli paste
* fresh prawns, fishball/fishcake, toufu puff
* laksa leaves

To make chilli, fry chilli paste in oil.

Add onions and lemongrass to hot oil. Mix in chilli paste and followed by all ingredients except coconut nilk and seafood/toufu puff . When boiled, add laksa leaf and finally coconut milk. Add seafood and toufu puff when gravy has bubbled again.

Garnish with thinly shredded laksa leaf, chilli paste cooked in oil and crunchy cucumbers. Serve.
