Nurul is 8 and my mom is 65!

We don't practise having a yearly birthday party for the kids. Real glad that i did this time round cos i just found out that Nurul would not be in the same calss as her Malay classmates anymore in P3. They partially streamed the cohort... so sad...

I started planning since July. Got bits of stuff here and there cos i knew i'd be busy if i were to plan late. Thought about all the details from the goodie bag to the Pearl balloon colours. Didn't go ahead with renting the helium gas tank although it is cheap at only $50 for 3 days(from Harvest Well Entreprise) cos we didn't have that many balloons. So took the cheater-bug way out. Taped the top of the balloons to the ceiling! Borrowed the idea from my kids pre-school ;p

It was (almost) an all-girls party. Besides some of my relatives, we invited Nurul's bestie, Sarah & family, our neighbours, her Malay girl classmates and Atikah's niece.

Strawberry Shortcake was the theme. Scouting the goodie bag itself was not easy. Wanted to go along with the theme. Bought Strawberry Shortcake small goodie bag initially. But when I opened it at home, they were so flimsy and couldn't take more than 3 items. Good thing my cousin, Siti Saleha's, sister-in-law sells goodie bag (for the girls). Boys, i got them large Daiso containers. Perfect for the party. Although the girls goodie bags didn't come in the original copyright colours, they were cute and fitted all the stuff i wanted to put inside - I made muffin and placed them in tube containers decorated with ribbons, a magnet animal memo clip, a 2D animal pencil and a small-bottle flavoured drink with nata de coco. Tried my best not to put in candies and junk food!

Food. Getting the cake was a breeze. Only Prima Deli had SS cake. Cooked soto ayam and mee goreng. Atikah advised on lots of finger food. Fried chicken wings, chicken nuggets, boiled hotdogs (best seller!!!), mini fruit tarts, strawberry sandwiches, jellies...

Atikah was the game planner... she did very well and the girls loved her. She thought of word-search, cross word puzzle, treasure hunt and even had a statue dance! Saf was the balloon sculpturer. Without these two, the party will be boring!!!Thanks babes!!!

It was so fun!!! And cute!!! Girls being girls, they came with little hand bags and iPhones. They were so vocal and interacted very well with my friends and relatives. So different, this new generation!
