My first Standard Chartered Marathon

I'm soooooo glad i got the opportunity to run today! I was too late in registering for Stand Chart Marathon 2010. But one of my former colleagues resigned so i got to replace her. It was under corporate and i didn't have to pay for the marathon...

So i got to be Michelle's replacement. And Mariel had to be an Indian staff's replacement... ehhehe she exchanged with her housemate for a more Filipino name... Both Mariel and I were totally not prepared for the run. We were only told about the replacement on Friday. No training! No ample time! Plus i had a chalet cum BBQ yesterday, Sat night! I was thinking, i'd be sure to pass out or be flat at the end of the race.

But Alhamdulillah, I made it... not a fantastic timing... think about 1hour 40 minutes. Hey, it was my first try, so it's commendable noting that i didn't have any training at all.... It was a test of my endurance.

Went to the race with Raf. Planned to meet Mariel there. A record of 60,000 participants took part in 3 different routes for 10km, half marathon (21 km) and full marathon (42km). I jogged and walked at my own pace. Stopping at drink stops and a few places to take photos. Sipped some energy gel Raf handed me. And it was really a proud moment for me when i completed the race. PA, and te kids came to root for me. But they didn't manage to spot me and take photos at the final 100m. Oh well, at least the kids did some activity at the kids zone...

Next.... Sun Down Marathon in May 2011. I have 5 months to train.

My attire hung outside my wardrobe... to make sure that i didn't forget anything. And the best part is Mak had to call me back when i left the house cos i forgot the most important thing - my tag!
