ok, this is gonna be pretty long entry...
It was a good start to the morning... rained a bit, rahmat Allah. But the traffic came to a standstill at the junction of the school as many parents dropped off their children at the sheltered foyer.
Nurul started her P1 this morning in Egdefield Primary School. I'm glad that she's in the morning session... her school is a single session school. I was not allowed further into the school premises. Parents are only allowed to be with their children during recess. So i thought... But noooooo.... They barricaded the canteen. Parents could only see their children from afar. Like a circus! arrrggghhhhh...!!!! shucks!
Anyway, like all schools, they have the buddy system, P1 and P5. Girls are usually paired with girls and likewise for the boys. They also paired students according to their faith so that they would learn to buy from the correct stall. And too bad, just tooooooo bad that Nurul is the only girl who has a boy buddy! Because the P5 class attending to her class has only 2 Muslims. So it was a blind, very boring, first date. And i wonder if this boy has close friends he hangs out with during recess. He didn't seem to mingle with anyone. And so, lunch was pretty quiet. I was like a vulture watching over them two. Any wrong move from the boy and i'm gonna hit his head! hahahahah nah, just kidding... it was just to make sure she ate. And we (me and Pa) could see that the boy kept asking if she was done. Finally she gave up and said yes, with her mouth full to return the dirty plate to the basin. Then she sat on the bench near the boy as he spoke to his friends who seemed to be laughing at him. She looked damn bored.
Of course, being me, i just, juuuuuuust had to raise this to the police teachers who were patrolling the canteen ensuring peace and ultimate order in the canteen hehehe..!
I was frantically waving at the teacher to get his attention.
me: errmm... just wondering... why is my daughter paired up with a boy?! Just look at her... she seemed so bored and quiet.
pa: ya, what if she needs to go toilet during recess?
not-a-bad-looking teacher: oh, ok, i'll go check...
(oh, he'd better check or i'd go up one level...)
He did just that and that was how i found out on the pairing system. Thanks, Cher!
Now, come the funny bit... Buddies are to be like glue. Like 3M tape. And my daughter did just as instructed. After recess, all assembled at this space they call the 'Quadrangle'. P1 classes in front, P5 at the back. I was standing behind her class' row. He brought her to her queue and told her to sit. He left to join his class at the back. Nurul saw him 'left' her and she dutifully got up, out of her class queue to join him at the P5 rows! ahahahahahah when i saw her, i quickly ran to her to get her back to join her class. I told her that he's only his buddy during recess.
*sigh* i think the boy must be thinking :'eh, ape nie... rimas lah... asyik ikut aje.' ahahahahahah
Nurul had so much fun on her first day. She really enjoyed her school and the bus ride home too. Makes her feel like she's all grown up taking bus without us. As she queued up for her bus, she kept telling Riyan, who was there after his school, that she was taking a bus home and that he could join her when he's in P1.
