Rupanzel - a Tangled love story

Today is Riyan's 5th birthday. Brought the kdis to watch Rupanzel. Another great Disney pictures. Very funny story with good-looking animated chcaracters. The thief-turned-prince was good-looking too...

Nurul, of course, enjoyed the movie very, very much... cos its a princess-ey thing...

I love Disney. We all love Disney. Who doesn't? I love Tokyo Disney more.

Fika Cafe and Bistro

My second time at Fika with friends. Chose the Swedish cafe cos i love the grilled chicken and the ambience was great, apart from them having everything from IKEA. The first floor itself looked great with white washed carpentry. Very cosy. The second floor was more for large groups, open for reservations.

If you want to reserve a table you MUST call: +65 6396 9096

Opening hours:
11am-10pm (Sundays - Wednesdays)
11pm-11pm (Thursdays - Saturdays)

No.257 Beach Road / Arab Street, Singapore
(on the corner of Beach Road and Arab Street)

This time round it was with old friends who studied and were more like family when i was in Australia. I knew i had to do this gathering when i bumped into Connie and Khaizad at Endy's wedding. And so this was it. It was supposed to be more of us but one by one either forgot about it or had some other issues to deal with. Anyway, it was a great 2.5 hours of yakking and especially about movie concepts for Shafie...

Second breakfast

My second trial of western breakfast. Bought fresh blueberries from NTUC and blueberry jam. Used Betty Crocker's pancake mix. Everyone loved it! Nurul had 2 servings of 3 pancakes each! The jam was a great compliment to the pancake.
A quick snap of Pa's serving before it was gulped down.
What i used. St. Dalfour - Good jam with chunky berries inside. Betty Crocker - The best pancake mix i used so far. Very soft and easy to whisk.

Breakfast at Lin's

ok, this is the first of my series of meal attempts... or rather cooking experiment for Pa and my kids... not sure if Mak likes it cos it's nothing Asian... more to come... InsyaAllah...
All American breakfast for Pa. I insisted he ate the tomato too.

Served with grilled tomato, garlic bread and mushroom soup. Shucks! i burst the yolk!

Riyan wanted one just like Pa's. But he didn't eat the yolk. I thought his egg looked better.

Universal Studios Singapore

Brought the kids to Universal Studios Singapore on my last day of leave. My expectations of the place was actually 6/10. I mean, i couldn't compare it to other theme parks like Tokyo Disney or Gold Coast's Movie World. Not that i thought SG has a lower standard but because i know there were still unopened rides and much smaller compared to its counterparts.

But the trip turned out to be better than i had presumed. The kids enjoyed themselves thoroughly, albeit the long waiting time for each ride and the 4D Shrek brought back memories of Movie World. It was the exact same thing!

Anyway, advise to those who intend to go there: BUY TICKETS ONLINE. It would be sold out by the time one reached USS. Heard there was a daily quota. Each of us got a $10 voucher - $5 for meals and $5 for retail upon entry. Parking at the USS was a real killer. It cost us $22 for 8 hours.

Halal food was a little difficult to find in the USS. Should have bought Mc Donald's burger for the kids before going there. There was one Halal eating place in Mel's Drive-In, which we missed for our lunch as we toured that area at our last pit-stop.

Subhanallah, beautiful in reality. Photo didn't do justice. Looking like an ice capped volvano.

3D/2N KL - Sunway, Masjid India and Pavilion

Didn't take much photos at Sunway Lagoon. The entrance fee is expensive now cos they packaged 3 themeparks into 1. I didn't remeber having to pay that price many donkey years back. Anyway, we felt a little cheated. When we were there they were renovating part of the wave pool. The wve was not like a good wave. I felt Jurong Swimming Complex is way much more worth it and bettter. The only good thing is the many water playground slides they have for kids.

3D/2N KL - Crazy sale at 1 Utama

Our first time at 1 Utama. Didn't realise it was located in Damansara... near Damansra Utama.. DUH!! Hence the name... we didn't managed to explore the entire shopping centre. It was massive! And we didn't have the time as we only started off at 3pm.
We hired a van from the hotel. Initially wanted to take 3 separate cabs which would cost us RM$30 each. But it'll mean we'll reach at different time and maybe alight at different entrances. The van cost about RM$120 to and fro (but we paid RM$200 as the hotel got us the van initially). We hired the van directly with the driver for the next day to Sunway Lagoon at RM$180 since it'd be cheaper to liaise with the van driver himself.
The 6 storey mall is popular with Singaporeans. A must go when one visits KL. There are just so many shops. Not as 'up market' as Pavilion but the choice of shops are plenty.
Seriuosly, the mall was great but there wasn't any conceirge to assist those who needs help. The turn ons - the great MEGASALE... some as much as 70% off! Turn offs - the public toilets. They should do a public education to improve toilet etiquettes and hygiene.

We had a late lunch cum dinner at Seoul Garden. Amounted to RM$250++ for all 11 of us including children. Read on for more some of the shops in 1 Utama.

3D/2N KL - Part 1 Dorsett Regency

Same destination, same transportation but different hotel.
View from our room

We stayed at Dorsett Regency this time round with Cik Yon and Cik Bedah and family, including Mak. The hotel is well, not up to my expectation. Or maybe i was expecting too much. Read on for more photos and hotel reviews.

Our little groccery store

Our instant supplies that Mak would replenish every week.
1/2 of the load.

Notice Mak buys 2 of everything... in case... it's not enough for last minute guests or dining.

The kids' section. 3 different types of cereal... cookies, chips...

Fish & Co

This is another series of my rummaging through old photos... Fish & Co serves very delicious Mediterranean style of grilled seafood. I love thir fried squid served with tartare sauce.

Swensen's

I rummaged through to find these delicious-looking photos. Taken during lunch at T2 Swenson with Nadiah, Amir and Cik Yon and family a couple of years ago. I love going to Swensen's. At this moment it's a '1-for-1' during lunch on weekdays.
My usual fish and chips.

Mushroom spaghetti in cream sauce.

Black pepper pasta.

Wak Mit's birthday chalet

Both Wak Mit and Cik Latip share the same birthday - 5 Dec 2010.

Wak got a chalet through Fizah, in Pasir Ris Downtown East. It was a good family bonding. But it seemed that there were fewer turnups compared to the previous 2 family chalets we had. Maybe Wak Yah and Cik Yon wanted it to be a small siblings affair. Me and kids came early to swim and i realised that I had forgotten their swimming attire when i reached. i zoomed home and back to the chalet in half and hour.
The BBQ spread was delicious! I love Cik Yon's nasi ayam... Yummy!!!! Me and family didn't stay till late as i had a marathon to race the next morning. If not for the marathon, I'd be there still eating till past 11pm! Both of my these aunts are the best cooks! They made cooking look so easy-peasy.

My faithful supporters deserved a mention in here. Although they didn't manage to capture me during mylast 100m 'dash', i'm glad they came to give me moral support...
