My mom took Nurul to Johor with Wak Yah for some relative's wedding on May Day. So since the kitchen was quite died down, Pa and I took Riyan out for lunch. Then he was still ok... We went to Vivo cos that's one of our best hang outs. A number of Halal food joints are there and at Harbour Front. I was torn between having to eat delicious Vivo's Banquet Kway Teow or something else... and then i thought i wanted something really satisfying for us parents as well as Riyan, who is a very, very fussy eater. So chicken rice being his fav dish, like mine, we headed for The Chicken rice Shop!
I have always loved this shop since i first tried it out when they started. I ordered the roasted chicken set. The skin was so crispy and they poured adequate light sauce over the chicken to make it slightly salty, the way i like my chicken. The chicken portion was more than enough, with crunchy cucumbers. We opted for the bak choy side dish that comes along with the set. This was also very tasty and fresh! I was temped to get the stir fried bean sprouts... but... not sure if i would sincerely liked it... heheheh maybe next time... ;p Pa ordered the wan tan chicken noodle set. I just cannot comprehend what is so nice about the chicken noodle. I didn't try it but just like everywhere else, all wan tan chicken noodles look so.... bland! But Pa said this one was different. It was served with vinegered chilli that tasted crunchy! Unlike other vinegered chillis. So said Pa...
The kids' meal with honeyed chicken was just given the right portion of chicken and rice + soup. + fried wanton. Perfect and Riyan, although feeling weak already, managed to finish almost the entire plate.Lunch was worth it ($31 total including deserts+ kueh pai-tees) cos i stayed full till past eight pm. But Riyan showed signs of feverish after the lunch...
